About
The Sim Centre, short for "simulation centre" is based at NEXUS on the University of Leeds campus. Research students in their final year of their PhD are given the opportunity to work part-time on research with real commercial benefit to Procter and Gamble.
There are a number of exciting and commercially sensitive projects that the Sim Centre research officers can work on. P & G hope to capitalize on the expertise gained during the initial years of their PhD, in fields as diverse as fluid and solid mechanics simulation; machine intelligence; data analytics. Specific projects can range from shaver design, dishwasher soap pouches; powder flow; perfume design; even simulation of colour change due to repeat washing.
The benefits to the students go well beyond financial. The work gives successful applicants opportunity to experience life in industry, enhance their CV and improved job prospects.
Research Officers currently have the option of working from home or in NEXUS on laptops provided by P & G for the sole purpose of the work
